Verona’s Torre dei Lamberti is the city’s tallest medieval building and one of Italy’s most inspiring monuments. Rising more than 275 feet above the cobbled streets, the tower has seen numerous additions throughout the years following the lead from Bologna’s tower-filled skyline. The tower features two bells, one to call regular hours and ring in holiday seasons, and the other for more drastic times when the city needs a call to arms.
It’s a great tourist attraction today, opening up Verona from an unmissable vantage point. Better still, the tower even features a modern lift to whisk you up almost to the top should you lack the energy required for the complete spiralling stair climb.
