NH Collection Palazzo Verona

This was a really nice hotel with very polite staff, but there were parts about my stay I didn't like so I can't give it 5 Stars. Onr of the most off putting thibgs was there was no locks internally. The was no extra protection in the form of a door lock or latch, which would have made me feel more safe. Also, the walls are so thin, you can hear people talking in the rooms next door, and I could hear water moving as I believe my room was next to maintence closet. It's a very quiet hotel, everytime I was in the lobby everything was very silent and speaking to staff felt like you needs to whisper. I even dined in the restaurant one evening and I was the only person there, very silent and awkward. In my room there was an iron shaped on burn mark on floor, and the bathroom door expanded, due to steam I guess, so couldn't full shut the door. For the good points, the hotel is near to central areas, not too far from all the tourist attractions. There were lots of pillows on bed so I had a choice. And finally, I chose a single room, but the bed was very big, not sure if they upgraded me, but a very decent sized room and bed size if it is a single room.

Highly recommend for location, room, breakfast and the wonderful staff! Located in the heart of the old city this hotel was the perfect base for our stay in the beautiful city of Verona. I was fascinated by the interesting Roman remains visible through glass sections in the ground floor, and some frescos in the stairwell which had been left to show the age of the building. It is amazing how a building can be so old and tastefully modernised at the same time. From start to finish the reception staff were genuinely friendly and efficient, with excellent spoken English. They were happy to help with any queries. Our large room was in the top floor which was quiet and away from any street noise. The windows opened and we were comfortably cool. The bathroom was fine; however a few hooks or shelves would help for organising toiletries. There was a good coffee machine, I would have liked more standard tea, milk and bigger mugs, but that is probably a UK thing! The room was cleaned beautifully every day when we were out. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice of healthy food and treats such as typical Italian pastries. Eggs and bacon cooked to order. Reyal (the breakfast manager) in particular was very attentive and keen that everyone had exactly what they wanted. The hotel is right next to lots of points of interest in the old city and feels hidden away in its little side street. Overall we had an excellent stay, thanks to all staff.
