Designed in the Gothic style and built back in 1280, the church has a curiously plain exterior enhanced only by a dramatic 72-metre high bell tower and a few small flourishes.
Yet inside, the difference couldn't be more extreme. Set behind ornate doors the interior is a feast for the eyes, with beautiful features including dramatic frescoes, hand-painted ceilings and elaborate baptistery fonts. With a hushed ambience and marvellous holy decorations, this church is one of Verona’s most unforgettable and is well worth a visit.
