Spent two nights here. It is walkable from the train station. Fantastic staff and the rooms are good-sized “American size” and as comfortable as any I’ve ever stayed in. Large bathroom, too, with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area (they showed me the shortcut to the train station over the wall). In the evening, treat yourself to a free prosecco or beer courtesy of the hotel. Nice atmosphere. It has a lift to the upper floors. The breakfast was great: scrambled eggs, bacon, cheeses, meats, toast, hard-boiled eggs, cereals, yogurt, fruit, etc. They have an espresso machine and the staff will make you whatever you desire with your breakfast.

We stayed for a week at this excellent hotel, I would have given it 5 stars but for a few things that need attention.
Location 5* plus - located within the city walls but close enough to the Railway station and bus station- a big plus as you do not want to drive in Lucca !
Reception 5* fast, polite and efficient and very welcoming
Room 4* We were in the Annexe, Large room with huge bed, a little firm for us. The temperature, the room was very hot and has no air conditioning, turned the temp down on the wall no effect - only way to cool the room down was to open the window but too noisy to sleep, asked at reception but there was nothing they could do. Additionally whilst the cleaning was good the maid twice forgot to renew the toilet paper which was irritating!
Breakfast 5* very good choice and plenty, excellent service!
One thing that was excellent was that the hotel has a free buffet from 10 to 7 mainly breakfast pastries but between 5 and 7 free Prosecco and bottles of Beer !
All in all I would stay here again!

Was made to feel very welcome from the minute we stepped in the door. Amazing staff, who were on hand at all times to assist. The hotel offers stylish, comfortable, and spotlessly clean rooms. The breakfast provided will cater for all in that there are continental and cooked versions available. In the afternoons, the hotel also provides free tea, coffee, and prosecco. For an extra €6 you can treat yourself to an Aperol Spritz. All in all, it is a fantastic experience, which we hope to repeat in the not too distant future. Grazie di tutto Hotel Illaria.

Rooms very comfortable, large enough for what you need and spotlessly clean.
Lots of restaurants nearby and the train station is a short walk away.
Already thinking of coming back next year!
