Castello di Casole, A Belmond Hotel is set amid the rolling green hills of Tuscany. The site is ideal for culture lovers and dates back to the Bronze Age, with local artefacts on display in the 10th Century castle which houses the hotel. The building retains many original details, including rustic wooden beams and stone architecture, while the spa is located in the former wine cellar. Surrounding the hotel are the luscious gardens which blend into the wider estate and its olive groves and vineyards. 

Spend days relaxing by the swimming pool, or explore the area with hiking, cycling or Vespa trips. Local experts will teach you to paint using watercolours, cook authentic dishes using seasonal ingredients or unwind with yoga. And when it comes to dining there are some spectacular options available, including a six course tasting menu.

Four Hands Dinner

Executive Chef Daniele Sera teams up with a chef from Belmond’s other fantastic restaurants to produce a unique six course meal featuring fantastic seasonal produce and favourite dishes from Italy with a modern flair.

This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy fine Italian wines as you watch the sun set over the rolling Tuscan hills and hotel swimming pool. Inside you’ll find a fresco wall and rustic details with classic marble throughout.

About the location

The historic town of Casole d'Elsa has breathtaking views of the rolling hills the Siena countryside has to offer. Surrounded by the fortress walls which are rich in history, Casole d'Elsa is a place where you can immerse yourself in culture, art, landscapes and nature.

Casole d'Elsa was once fought over between nearby Volterra and Siena. Due to this tumultuous past the town built two towers and a castle which date back to the 15th century, the castle is now home to the town government. 

Due to its hilltop position on a clear day you can see as far as the Apennines on the borders of Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, to the north east you can see the hills of Chianti and to the east you can see the hills of Montagnola behind which is Siena. When it comes to visiting the surrounding area, head off by car and visit San Gimignano and Volterra, only 30 minutes away.
