The Spiaggia Sabbie Nere (Black Sands Beach) is one of the very few sandy beaches that can be found across the Aeolian Islands, but what they lack in numbers they make up for in beauty. This stretch of blistering black sand is splayed over the western side of the peninsula at Porto di Ponente and has views to the protruding faraglioni (rock towers) that sit just off shore. It stays relatively busy throughout the summer months with many people making the 10 minute walk from the sulphurous mud pit to cool off in the transparent waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
