Huge room with a view!
My room was huge with a window onto the street below. My trip was a work-holiday and the WIFI worked perfectly so that I could do work and make presentations & conduct meetings smoothly, plus watching videos on my laptop (I rarely watch TV on the road).
The room had a super comfortable king-sized bed in which I slept like a baby every night, getting a wonderful rest. There is also a grand lobby to relax, as well as a courtyard.
All the staff was very helpful, professional and friendly!
The hotel is located in an ideal spot, steps away from picturesque and historical Ortigia. The hotel is all of a 10-15 minute walk from the railway station, situated in the middle of town with access to many restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. As the hotel is within the city centre, it's an easy walk to many of the parks, historical sites and ruins in Siracusa, including the huge modern circular cathedral.
The breakfast buffet is great to start the day with attentive service from the staff on board, ready to quickly bring patrons coffee and other services.
With any plans in the future for travel to Siracusa, I'd definitely return to the Grande Albergo Alfeo. Grazie mille a tutti!

This hotel was chosen for us by our travel agent. When I learned that it was on the mainland and not in Ortigia, I was upset. But it's actually very close to Ortigia and this part of Siracusa is very nice. The charmless part is closer to the Archeological Park. This hotel is 3 blocks from Voglia Matta, which has great gelato, and 1 block from Midolo, which has great arancini and capuccini. Crisalva is a very nice neighborhood restaurant only 1 1//2 blocks away. Our room was a lot bigger than the ones we had in Rome and Ragusa, which makes it more comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The only thing we didn't like is the shower, which doesn't have a door, so that the water splashes onto the floor.

This is a four star hotel. It is well located, 15 minutes walk from the station. About 5 minutes onto Ortigia. It is in a beautifully restored palazzo. High ceilings. Clean room and bathroom. Excellent breakfast in a beautiful dining room. Very good WiFi.
But…………
It is noisy. Very noisy.
I was awoken at around 2 a.m. The sound of voices reverberates off the stone walls and floors. The footsteps of people walking in reception sound like a drum. Furniture being dragged around, sounding like fingernails dragged down a blackboard. Other random noises at irregular intervals. This went on until well after 4 a.m.
Then, it all kicked off again at around 6 a.m.
I would not stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights booked by our tour operator: Esplora Travel. It was a good choice of hotel for the location. The room was clean and spacious enough and the breakfast varied. There is a pleasant lounge area where we were able to gather with our group and have a drink.
