Located along Corso Umberto I – Taormina’s main shopping street – this pretty piazza wows with enticing views and medieval charm. One side of the piazza looks out to sea, whilst the other three offer beautiful facades of historic churches and quaint houses, and a striking chequerboard floor paves the vast open space in between, creating an enchanting visual. By day it’s one of Taormina’s best vantage-points, with astounding views and bustling crowds. In the evening, Piazza IX Aprile is quietly buzzing, with pavement cafes and a laid-back ambience.
