One of many sleepy hill top towns in Sicily, Caccamo is most renowned for its dramatic clifftop castle. Erected by the Normans in the 11th century, the rocky spur on which it was built was originally designed as part of a defensive strategy, to allow maximum vision across the countryside in order to prevent an attack. Now however, the Castello Caccamo’s grounds have slowly been transformed into a quiet haven, presenting superb views across the landscape and overlooking the Rosamarina Lake. Sitting deep within the castle is the highly praised A Castellana restaurant, which offers up a mixture of typical, refined Sicilian dishes and boasts an enviable panoramic terrace - all the ingredients for a perfect summer dining experience!
