Hotel Costa dei Fiori

We have just arrived home after 10 days stay at the hotel. We stayed in a large upstairs room in one of the apartment blocks outside of the main hotel. The room was well appointed with large sliding glass doors opening onto the large balcony. The view from the room was superb, a sea view in the distance, lots of palms, flowering shrubs and gorgeous greenery everywhere. It was stunning location during daylight hours and in the evening the garden lighting was atmospheric and charming. The room was comfortable and hats off to the housekeeping staff ,it was pristine! During our stay we used the pool area down by the beach area as it offered everything we wanted. The hotel location is stunning but the hotel is slightly isolated so a hire car enabled us to enjoy the local sights, Pula and the Chia beaches. We booked a boat trip through the hotel and what a fun day we had swimming at various coves and diving off the boat at various stops. That trip was also a culinary experience. A long leisurely lunch around the table with other guests and so much fresh fish, simply cooked on board, local wine, coffee cakes & aperitifs The drive to the boat Marina was breathtaking through the mountains but also hair raising ! We stayed half board at the hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Generally in the evenings there was a choice of three options for each of the four courses. In addition there were other options some inclusive and others at an extra cost in case, you wanted something different. We began each evening with cocktails in the bar area catching up with staff and other guests. The menus changed daily and one evening there was a Sardinian menu accompanied by a local musician. We chose to drink only wines from Sardinia during our stay and we were happy with this. We had to give one days notice for a celebration meal and the deliciousness and presentation of this meal was fantastic. The staff made the holiday for us. They were in the main outstanding, so professional friendly and courteous. Thanks to everyone at Costa Dei Fiori.

This was the second half of our family holiday in Sardegna - we spent the first half on the North Coast. What a joy to roll up in the taxi to such a stunning hotel! It's so beautiful, set in gardens with tall palms, pomegranates and bougainvillea. There are many kinds of rooms - ours was very private, up a small flight of stairs, balcony and sliding glass doors into an all white, air-conditioned, simply decorated room, with a marbled modern shower room opening off it. We arrive at night and both pools were lit up and looked fabulous. The infinity pool is right down on the beach, and the tiny beach was very private, good for a swim and a snorkel (of course, there were beaches either side, as there are beaches all along the coast.) There is a separate bar, lounge, lunch venue (13:00-14:30) in the grounds with a chilled atmosphere, fresh cooked food, barista/cocktail-waiter. Cicadas chirup through the night, the odd sparrow during the day, mostly gently rustling palm leaves and the sea lapping and peace and quiet! The main hotel staff are friendly, helpful and relaxed. They want you to have the best experience. Breakfast is no longer a buffet sryle - but you can select 2 sweet and 2 savoury little dishes from the menu + your juice and your choice of hot drink. We organised half board, thinking it would be good to have supper (an extra €40) sorted (Pula is a bit too far to hike to and back from for suuper each night). It's the only thing we regret. We are all vegetarian and have visited Italy many times and eaten well. We can't quite explain why the evening meals had either no taste or, worse, tasted as if ingredients had come from a packet (deep fried chickpea cutlet) or squeesed from a tube (a white runny substance that was not goats cheese squeezed into the top of a hollowed out courgette!). Occasionally we just left things. The description on the menu of the veggie dishes was not what arrived. For example, babaganoush (a swirl of liquidised aubergine), or milfeuilles (two cheese biscuits with poor tasting chocolate spread piped between then and a couple of pieces of strawberry). Food arrived cool, cold, or dried out, and was without the usual passion and soul found in Italian cuisine - even the simplest alternative (pasta pomodoro) were half-hearted. Often the ingredients were elegantly arranged, and presented sprinkled with petals or swirls of coloured stuff - but if there were any tastes they were banal and uncomplimentary. We're all stumped to explain how any Italian kitchen could serve such food. Skip the half board meal option and this place is an oasis for a perfect quiet get away.

Really nice hotel, calm, quiet and luxurious at a ok price. Loved the room and the surroundings with a beautiful garden. There are 2 pools, one just outside the hotel and one infinity pool by the beach. The beach at the hotel was not nice but the hotel offers shuttle to one of the best beaches in Europe, Chia beach, just 15 minutes drive from the hotel. There is no town or restaurants in walking distance from the hotel but the restaurant at the hotel is very good and 15 minutes by car you can reach Pula, nice small town with a lot og cafes and restaurants. We had breakfast every day and dinner most of the days at the hotel, staff very friendly and helpful. Thanks to Marco, always a smile and nice comments and also thanks to the helpful staff at the reception. A very nice week at a beautiful place!
