Masseria Montenapoleone

Look elsewhere if you want a wonderful masseria experience. Very disappointing and the aperitif experience in the vineyard is extremely overpriced and poor. Our table was not cleared so a cat jumped on the table eating our leftovers. A very snooty woman(Alessandra) could see we were disgusted with this and she shrugged it off and said ‘is the cat annoying you’. When we mentioned this on check out the receptionist said there are lots of cats around the masseria and that we had finished our food so what was the problem. We also could not get the attention of any waiters to order a glass of wine while we observed other guests receiving complimentary olive oil from this same women, Alessandra. She was very rude and appeared to prefer guests who seemed of a certain standing. Our room was really far away just to be aware if you book a garden room. You are really in the garden!! I really would not recommend!!

This masseria in first impact was gorgeous. Authentic and original.. with quirky and tasteful decore…… however We are in Puglia…a food heaven and frankly this restaurant was a big disappointment.. overpriced for mediocre offferings . I’d rather spend that money on the needy….

We spent 3 nights here earlier this month and it was heaven! The grounds are vast and beautiful, with the olive trees, vineyards, lemon and orange trees plus the wild flowers and huge trees. It was so peaceful and relaxing just being in this environment. The room was very spacious and comfortable, with all the amenities you could need. The shower was the best I have ever used! We had a garden at the front with a hammock (I think our room was called "Tufaia"?), which got plenty of sun, but also had enough shade thanks to the trees. It was pure bliss sitting out there in the morning with a coffee, or in the early evening with an ice cold beer or glass of wine 😊 The food at breakfast, lunch and dinner was simply devine! The burrata, the bread, the pasta etc. were all delicious. They also have 3 different olive oils that they make themselves and an excellent wine list, but you cannot go wrong with their own highly quaffable red at €22! On one of the days we had a picnic under one of the ubiquitous shady trees and I cannot recommend this highly enough. The food was plentiful and scrumptious in the most idyllic surroundings, with Italian music in the background. Their brilliant staff kept checking up if we were ok or wanted anything else, but never rushed us - we spent hours chilling there and could have spent longer! My wife and I also had a treatment each which were wonderful. We both agreed they were the best massages we had ever had. On our other full day here we drove to Monopoli (about 30 minutes away) to visit Porto Rosso beach, which again I would highly recommend. We were out of season so it was pretty quiet which helped, but the waters were crystal clear and perfect for swimming, with numerous coves and caves to explore. We then had lunch at Porto Rosso (as recommended by reception at the Masseria) - we shared a raw seafood starter followed by pizza overlooking the sea. Oh my it was sensational!! We left the following day to visit other areas in Puglia, but ended up staying for lunch at the hotel as we just did not want to leave! We love to travel and experience new places, so we have never stayed in the same place twice, but we will make an exception for Puglia and the ineffable Masseria Montenapoleone. We will definitely be back soon! One final word for the remarkable and omnipresent Antonio. He could not do enough for us – any time we needed anything, he was there before we even realised we needed him! Thank you for making our stay so special 😊
