Alberobello, or ‘Trulli Town’ as it’s sometimes called, is one of Puglia’s must-visit towns. It’s home to neighbourhoods of trulli, traditional stone dwellings with whitewashed walls and cone-shaped roofs. They line the steep streets of Rione Monti and Rione Aia Piccola, with many now converted into wine bars, trattorias, shops and hotels. Rione Monti is the busier part, with more of the shops and cafes, while Rione Aia Piccola is more peaceful. Once you’ve finished exploring, cross the Largo Martelotta and walk up the steps to the belvedere for photo-worthy views of the trulli.
