Once part of the largest lake – Lake Maggiore, Lake Margozzo now remains separated by a slender strip of land and is distinguished by its small size and peacefulness. The absence of motorboats has allowed for still waters and a noticeable quietness surrounding the lake, and is ultimately what most people fall in love with, that and its promenade: Via Pallanza. The promenade has a selection of shops, bars and bistros and is a pleasant contrast from the hubbub of Lake Maggiore, making for a relaxing lunchtime affair with a stunning backdrop.
For lovers of the outdoors, the lake is celebrated for its clean waters and as a popular destination for watersports, including windsurfing and canoeing. What’s more, with the surrounding Alpine chain of Monte Rosa, the lake boasts some fantastic walks and nature trails guaranteeing terrific scenery.
