Worldhotel Cristoforo Colombo

Stayed here for 3 nights in a superior queen room. The room was clean and decent size, the bed was very comfortable we had good night's sleep on this. Bathroom is very modern and clean, however the bathroom and the shower are smaller than they look on photos. Air con worked perfectly during our stay. We had a nice view of the high street from our bedroom window. Staff were friendly. We were able to connect our phones to the television which was nice as we could watch Netflix etc. Be aware that the walls of the rooms are very thin, you can hear people talking in the rooms next to you and can hear people walking past and talking in the corridor, this could be annoying if you have noisy neighbours, however we did not occur any problems with this. We did not use the spa as it's an extra 29 euros per person if you are not staying in a junior suite or suite, which we thought was abit unfair as we paid quite alot of money for the room, however we were visiting a different spa during our trip so this did not bother us too much, but just be aware of this if you are hoping to use the spa at the hotel. Be careful of hidden charges at this hotel, upon arrival we were asked to pay a 200 euro holding deposit for the room, which wouldve been fine if we knew in advance, however, we were not made aware of before arriving so we need did not allow for this in our spending money. Also upon checking out of the hotel we were told that they were taking a city tax charge from the deposit that they took for the room, which again we were not made aware of beforehand. Overall the hotel is nice, it's not worth the expensive cost in our opinion, however the location is in the city centre so I guess that is what you are paying for.

3 Night city break. Nice and quiet during the night-always appreciated on a city break . Room and ensuite spotless. Nice breakfast. Short taxi from Milan Central station and close to metro which was easy to use. Only 20mins via taxi to Milan Linate airport when we departed for home.

We secured the “Suite Terrace” for the extra space and most importantly for the outdoor terrace. The suite was sleek and modern with simple understated décor and a Scandinavian/minimalist vibe. The living area furnishings were very low slung which was a little uncomfortable for my 6.3 husband but he managed just fine. It has a large beautiful bathroom clad in marble with double sinks and a nice big and deep soaker tub/shower combo. Plenty of counter space, nice quality bath towels and communal style bath products (personally not a fan). Note there is a ~20 inch step up and over to get in to the tub/shower which may be difficult for persons with mobility or balance issues. Adding a simple hand rail would be easy and helpful. The king size bed was super comfortable with fresh smelling crisp linens and soft lofty pillows. LOVED the huge and very private terrace overlooking the busy Corso Buenos Aires below and the rooftops of the city. So nice to chill on the comfy chaise lounges. The weather was divine during our stay so we often kept the two french doors open to the terrace which further enlarges the entire suite. Plenty of fresh air and an abundance of natural light. EPIC sunrises and an overall cool view day and night. It’s a very busy area with a lot of street/city noise, however it did quiet down at night. There’s in-room coffee, a cold mini fridge and effective black out drapes. Room temp, water pressure and Wifi were great. The hallways are very dark and you must use your key for the elevators. The breakfast offering was plentiful and served in a beautiful space. The whole hotel is beautiful, housed in a grand historic building with elegant reception, dining and a spa. Every staff member we encountered were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Housekeeping was spot on as the suite was beautifully prepared upon our arrival and perfectly refreshed every day. Appeared a lot of business travelers frequent this hotel. The hotel is well located IMHO. We have stayed closer to the Duomo in the past but we really liked this area as there are so many wonderful dining, shopping and wandering experiences off the main drag all around the hotel. Excellent supermarket “Unes” is behind the building directly across the street. It was nearly a straight and scenic shot to walk to the Duomo; about a mile give or take. We took a taxi for 16€ from Milano Centrale to the hotel. We forgot how HUGE and cRazy the train station is! Just stay calm and carry on. Lol. We had the hotel secure a private car service to Malpensa for 130€ upon our departure and it was executed perfectly. In our experience during this stay, the taxi’s were more reasonable than UBER. Milan is loud and dirty and beautiful and astonishing. This was our last destination of a month long odyssey of Switzerland and northern Italy. I am a total hotel junkie with crazy high expectations. We were so pleased with the Cristoforo Colombo. It was a perfect little nest for our final 4 nights in Europe. Highly recommend. Enjoy and peace to all! P.s. We had wonderful dining experiences at Ristorante Da Oscar (2 min walk) and Ristorante Pizzeria La Ragazza (6 min walk). SO yummy and reasonable. Just sayin…
