Villa Carlotta, located in the town of Tremezzo along the lakeshore, offers the most beautiful botanical gardens and today the Villa is a museum with collections which include works from famous artists and sculptors such as Antonio Canova, Bertel Thorvaldsen and Francesco Hayez. The original architect of the Villa is unknown and was completed in 1745. Perched on top of a terraced garden, from which visitors can admire views of Bellagio and also the surrounding mountains surrounding the lake. It consists of three floors (two are open to the public), the works of art on display are mainly located on the lower floor whilst the upper one provides excellent views over the lake.
