Hotel Belvedere, Lake Como

When we opened the door to our suite, we were so touched to see that a beautiful bouquet of flowers as well as a bottle of champagne and cookies were waiting for us, with a card congratulating us on our 30th wedding anniversary! The champagne is from the hotel's own cellars and was exceptional. We were so moved by this kind and thoughtful gesture. It was the first indication of the special attention that the management and staff pay to its guests at the Hotel Belvedere Bellagio. The proximity to the little town of Bellagio was very convenient and was a lovely, easy walk from the hotel. Our room was spacious, with a little sitting area, refrigerator and comfortable bed. The bathroom had a large soaking whirlpool tub, as well as a separate shower. We would have preferred more storage space at the vanity, but that is the one and only drawback. The view from our room was spectacular! We enjoyed a long balcony with tables and chairs from which to sit and take in the peaceful surroundings. Each person who we encountered was so helpful and friendly, and check in and check out was seamless. Shuttle service was complementary to and from the ferry stop, and the shuttle driver (we think his name was Paolo) was friendly and pleasant. He told us that the employees at the hotel were like family to him! The staff who served breakfast were always attentive, the food was delicious and the dinner we enjoyed there was the best we had in Bellagio. Pride in service was evident, and it seemed like everyone worked as a team. The little bar in the lobby was impressive as well, offering top shelf liquor and Jacopo was an expert mixologist. The reason that we chose this hotel is because we were impressed by the history of its ownership. Five generations of woman have managed the Hotel Belvedere, and we felt fortunate to have met the current owner/manager, Guilia. Guilia was delightful and went above and beyond to help us to identify a hike to San Primo. She shared directions for the hike with us and even reached out to us later in the day to make sure we didn't need a ride back to the hotel after the hike! On the day we left, she made sure to come to say goodbye, which meant the world to us. Guilia and her staff exemplify the warmth and hospitality for which Italians are known. The Hotel Belvedere Bellagio is the premier space to stay while in Bellagio!

We stayed at Hotel Belvedere for a week and we had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is walking distance from the town and restaurants. However, as it’s not in the hustle and bustle of Bellagio, it is also quite quiet. The hotel itself is beautiful and spacious with stunning views of the lakes and mountains. The swimming pool overlooks this incredible view and we really enjoyed spending time there. There is also ample sun loungers for all guests which we appreciated. The gym is also very nice with a range of equipment to use, however it does get very hot as there isn’t proper air conditioning. The room was lovely - there was a Nespresso machine which was replenished daily, it was clean and tidy, the beds were comfy and the bathroom was modern. The staff were friendly and helpful, the concierge even made restaurant reservations for us. There is also parking available, both outside the hotel and in a separate car park. We had hired a car for the week so we were grateful for this. One thing to note is that the only bar area is in the reception which we found a little odd. Furthermore, not everything is included within the cost of breakfast - the majority of the cooked food (except omelettes) was an additional charge which we found disappointing. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends and family.
