This full day tour has a perfect pairing ' a climb up to the crater of Mount Vesuvius followed by lunch and a tasting at a vineyard that grows Lacryma Christi wine. It'll bring you closer to the awesome intensity of mainland Europe's only active volcano and amaze you with life borne out of its volcanic soil.
First, you'll travel by bus up the first 1,000 metres of Mount Vesuvius ' the active volcano that famously buried Pompeii in AD79 and still looms large over the Gulf of Naples.
You'll finish the journey to the rugged crater on foot, with top-drawer views from the top, you'll want to take your camera for this one. Then, you'll discover all there is to know about a type of Neapolitan wine that's grown on the slopes of the volcano, Lacryma Christi.
