Following the mighty eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD the Roman town of Pompeii was one of the four neighbouring settlements to be destroyed. Despite being covered in a thick layer of ash and pumice, Pompeii is well preserved and is considered to be the only archaeological site which gives a real insight into an ancient Roman town. The luxury mini-bus will transport you to Pompeii (approx. 1 ½ hours) before you are handed a headset and led around the ruins by your knowledgeable guide. Learn about life before the eruption and enjoy the chance to walk in the footsteps of the Pompeians.
After the tour of Pompeii you will get the chance to explore its destroyer up close. Visiting mainland Europe’s only active volcano is a once in a life time experience not to be missed! You will climb roughly 1,000 metres by coach before being escorted by a trained guide for the last walk to the summit. Here you can admire stunning views as far as the eye can see, as well as the impressive crater itself.
During low season, warm clothing may be required for Vesuvius. Closed shoes or trainers are recommended.
