Campania is famous around the world for its astonishing landscapes and deep blue sea dotted with the fabled islands on which, ancient tradition would have it, the Sirens sang their songs to lure sailors to their doom. But just a few kilometres inland from Naples, a true wine paradise waits for those seeking a different off-the-beaten-track Italy: Irpinia. This tour is an opportunity to taste the best wine the region has to offer, such as: Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo, Falanghina and Taurasi during this full day escorted tour through the best wine cellars of Southern Italy.
Departure from your hotel by coach for a pleasant journey to Taurasi, the capital of Campania red wine, set in the green Irpinia, the Campania countryside, comparable to Chianti in Tuscany. You will be welcomed in at one of the most spectacular wineries in Campania: walking between tens of thousands of bottles arranged in recesses extracted from the stone walls and wine oaks. The owner founded his company, pushed by an irrepressible desire to give voice to the history and traditions of his loved Taurasi. The distinctive trait of his spectacular winery is soon clear walking by the numerous fascinating small tunnels: it is not just a place in which barrels, bottles and vats are stored but a real museum of the viticulture. In every corner, on each wall and in the multiples, recesses obtained from the stones walls, it is possible to see typical tools and utensils used by the winemakers. Together with the tools and the barrels, you can find a variety of wood, glass and stone artworks, some made by the owner himself and some others given as a gift by artist friends. After the vineyard and cellar visit with wine tasting, you are invited to the company Agriturismo for a rich lunch based on local specialties accompanied by the wine cellar wines. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
