Day 1 : Arrive in Tuscany

Day 2 : Florence

Explore Florence, a treasure trove of art, history, and culture, home to Italian Renaissance art and architecture. 
A guided walking tour covers key landmarks like the Duomo, the iconic, red-tiled dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, Piazza della Signoria, a vibrant square featuring the Loggia dei Lanzi, a stunning open-air sculpture gallery, and Ponte Vecchio, the picturesque medieval bridge over the Arno River, lined with shops selling jewellery and artwork. 
  
Free time in the afternoon, a chance to explore on your own this wonderful city where every street corner tells a story. Later a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo, a hilltop square offering breathtaking vistas of Florence.

Day 3 : Chianti Wine Region

A day in the scenic Chianti region, nestled between the cities of Florence and Siena, featuring visits to charming villages such as Montefioralle and Greve in Chianti. Day 4 : Siena

A guided tour of Siena, a stunning city rich in history, art and culture, famous for its medieval streets and the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo that hosts the Palio, a historic horse race held twice a year. Visit the stunning Siena Cathedral, a masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture, and admire the intricate details, frescoes, and works by Michelangelo and Donatello. 

Free time in the afternoon to explore the Contrade: walk through some of the city’s 17 districts, each with unique symbols and vibrant traditions. Wander the narrow alleys and discover charming shops and cafés.

Day 5 : Orcia Valley - Montepulciano & Pienza

Discover the Orcia Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site found in the heart of Tuscany and celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes, rolling hills, and rich cultural heritage. 

Visit two of its jewels: Montepulciano, known for its “Vino Nobile” wine, a wine celebrated worldwide for its elegance and depth. Stroll through Piazza Grande, situated at the highest point in town, is Montepulciano's heart, dominated by the imposing tower and Gothic façade of the Palazzo Comunale. From the tower's peak you can see as far as Radicofani, the Val d'Orcia and Lake Trasimeno. The square is lined with grand buildings, including the cathedral and town hall, not to mention a lovely mix of restaurants and cafes.

Pienza, redesigned by Pope Pius II in the 15th century as a model of Renaissance urban planning. A town that will enchant you with its charming stone architecture, romantic lanes, world-famous cheese and panoramas of picture-perfect landscapes. It beckons you to stroll through its pedestrian-friendly lanes lined with grand historical buildings and palazzi. Inviting doors and delightful windows adorned with colorful flower beds add to Pienza’s enchantment. 


The day includes Pecorino cheese tasting, a delicious sheep's milk cheese.

Day 6 : Lucca

Today you'll visit Lucca, the birthplace of the composer Giacomo Puccini. A charming town known for its well-preserved Renaissance walls, historic architecture, and delightful ambiance.  

Some of the top attractions include Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, a unique oval-shaped square that was built on the site of an ancient Roman amphitheatre, the stunning cathedral which features a blend of Gothic and Romanesque styles, and the Torre Giunigi, famous for its rooftop garden with oak trees.  

Stroll along Via Fillungo, the main shopping street, for boutiques, artisan shops, and local delicacies.

Day 7 : San Gimignano

On your last day we’ll head to the stunning medieval town of San Gimignano, famous for its well-preserved architecture and its iconic skyline of 14 towers. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-visit destination for history lovers, wine enthusiasts, and those seeking classic Tuscan charm. 

The visit includes a special ice cream tasting from an award-winning gelateria in Piazza della Cisterna, the heart of the town. This triangular square is surrounded by beautiful buildings and features a historic well at its centre. 

Later some time at leisure for you to browse shops selling craft, leather goods, and local food products, before heading back to your hotel.

Practical Information

Flight Information

The majority of international flights arrive into Pisa airport (PSA). Direct flights to Pisa are available from Belfast, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Luton, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle and take approximately 2 hours. 

Visa Information

At the current time, British citizens do not require a visa to visit Italy.

Tipping

Whilst tipping isn’t embedded into Italian culture it is always appreciated as an acknowledgement of good service. Nowadays people generally round up a bill in a bar or cafe and leave 5-10% extra on a restaurant bill. Taxi bills are usually also rounded up.
 
On guided tours/excursions, it is customary to leave a token of appreciation for the driver and guide.
 
On small group escorted tours, it is customary to leave a token of appreciation for the driver and guide at the end of the tour.
