How long have you been an Italy Expert and what do you specialise in?
16 years and I specialise in all areas of Italy.
"Getting the itinerary completely right for someone who has never been to Italy before, and all the little extras to get them the best experiences."
1. What was your most memorable holiday meal?
Lovely little family restaurant in Malcesine, Lake Garda. Prawn tagliatelle washed down with their homemade limoncello!2. What is the best thing about being in Italy?
You can’t go wrong with the food, everything they do is to the highest standard. You can go to the littlest cafe and get such top-quality food. The people are wonderful, everything is so relaxed and welcoming. The cities are also so pretty, Italy is really just a fantastic place.
3. Where would you love to go next, and why?
Calabria, it’s another one that I’ve been to with work that I would just love to see in my own time. Overall, Calabria has a very rustic feel and there are some places that haven’t quite caught up with the touristy feel, so you get a true taste of the real Italy. I can remember walking through the main piazza and thinking how tranquil it was. The beaches also have a Caribbean style, with secluded white sand bays, really some of the best beaches in Italy.
4. Do you prefer visiting cities, coast or countryside, and why?
Countryside, Tuscany is absolutely breathtaking. I’ve driven there quite a few times, and I just can’t drive properly because everything is so beautiful that I have to keep stopping. So, I have to be the passenger now, because it’s really just that incredible.
