About the location
Rome – the Eternal City – is often said to be the world’s greatest open-air museum, boasting hundreds of historic sights around every corner and in every square. There’s so much to see and do that you’d need a month to take it all in, but a week or less is enough to give you a taste of Italy’s incredible capital.
With more than 3,000 years under its belt, Rome has long been one of the world’s leading centres of culture. There are masterpieces like the Sistine Chapel, numerous wine-fuelled feasts to partake in, and a raft of iconic sights, including the world’s largest amphitheatre – the Colosseum.
Best of all, the majority of Rome’s attractions are within walking distance of each other, so you’ll be able to soak up the Roman way of life as you walk to the Pantheon or Trevi Fountain. Maybe you’ll discover a hidden church with beautiful frescoes or a secret trattoria serving excellent wine from the Lazio hills. (See our small-group food tour.) That’s when the phrase ‘when in Rome’ really comes in handy...

Had a very nice 3 nights here in early May. The location was perfect for us, a few minutes walk from Barberini metro stop, fairly short walk to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, and close to Borghese Gardens. We did not have trouble with the A/C like some other reviews have stated, and with windows closed were not disturbed by street noise at night. Staff were friendly. I had emailed a few questions prior to our visit and response time took a few days. The breakfast was good and we enjoyed some drinks on the terrace upstairs a couple of times. Room was fairly basic and bathroom was tight, though not unexpected in these older buildings. Bed was very comfortable. Would stay again!

The hotel is beautiful and close to so many attractions. Rooftop bar & restaurant is great with many in our party of 52 enjoyed. But number one thing we all wanted to do after 36 hours of no sleep and traveling on an overseas flight was shower. We spent 2 nights at the Savoy and no hot water the entire time. Made the stay miserable. We should have gotten some kind of a perk for the inconvenience but we only received insincere apologies. We should have been informed upon checkin because all 52 had to wait until 2:00 to check in and we got there at about 11 AM. It was a miracle how every room was available at exactly 2:00.

The hotel was in a good location for us and very clean. We got up to our room and it was very stuffy and musty. There was no air conditioning and our friends in another room had the same issue. They were advised that the hotel is not allowed to turn the air on early in May. As a result, we had to open the windows to a lot of street noise and light making it difficult to sleep. I am used to darkness and quiet so I barely slept for 2 nights. The hotel's breakfast was not what we have experienced at other European hotels. I would not stay here again.
